Springtime Milky Way over Pulpit Rock
In the spring, the northern arc of the Milky Way is low enough in the sky to be photographed in its entirety above the horizon. Here it is perfectly placed over the canyon as viewed from Pulpit Rock. The greenish color in the sky is airglow, a naturally occurring atmospheric phenomenon too dim to see with the unaided eye.
