Star Trails over Dragon Point

Taken on a dark moonless night in late June, this image shows how the stars in the northern hemisphere appear to rotate around Polaris, the North Star. The 30-minute exposure dramatically illustrates the apparent motion of the stars caused by the rotation of the Earth. The full panorama from which this image was taken appeared in the January 2015 issue of Sky&Telescope magazine.
